Last week when I picked up Kayla from school, the teacher's assistant told me that Kayla did a really good job on her presentation. I was very surprised because I had no idea what he was talking about. I turned to Kayla and asked her about this presentation she gave in class. She then told me that she went up in front of the class and read the report that she did on cats. That was a good explanation except for the fact I didn't know she had done a report on cats. I asked her if she had a report that was due that I didn't know about. She told that she had checked out a book at the library about all the different kinds of cats, like lions and tigers, and thought it was interesting. She asked her teacher if she could use some class time to write a report about what she had read. When we got home I asked her if she would read me her report. I was amazed that this report was 7 pages long and included illustrations that she drew. What amazed me more is that she wanted to do for herself and she did it all by herself! Not bad for a second grader.
Here is some of her report. You can't read it that well, but it gives you an idea of her work.
